The board and the coaches would like to extend a very warm welcome to the entire membership of Toronto Harriers. Most of you are former MBP runners and we do have a number of new faces, – we hope you will all enjoy your time as members of this great community and club. After a tremendous turnout of nearly 40 athletes this past weekend for the long run, – we are off to a great start.
Both the board and coaches have been working hard behind the scenes and we have made tremendous progress in the operations of the club. As with any new venture, we are still a work in progress and this club will look very different in the months to come. This is your club and we welcome comments and suggestions. Our president Carrie will be sending the membership an update in the next week or two.
Thursday social run
We are going to meet near the Starbucks at Yonge and St Clair to do a 10km loop. For those that want a slightly shorter option, – pop up Yonge instead of Avenue and that will shave off 2 kilometres. This week, this session will not be coach led. We envisage that as the weather improves and we have more light, – shifting the start to Oriel Park to do a drill set before the start of the run. And then within the run, adding in some strides/pickups. We would like to introduce a stride/pickup set before it gets lighter and Brittany or I will give notice of when we will be there to lead this run, – likely in the next week or two. Please meet at 630pm near the Starbucks at Yonge and St Clair. Please be mindful of other members of the public using the entrance to the shopping centre.
10km Midtown Thursday Route – Toronto Harriers
Saturday long run
We are running easy this weekend using the midtown route again and you should be adding 1 -2km to your long run distance. There may be a trail option dependent on the conditions of the trails. We will send details of the run on Friday.
Races
Do check out the race diary on the website for up and coming races. We have a small number doing the next race, – Robbie Burns. We have discount codes for the Toronto Women’s Run Series and the Mississauga Marathon.

Coaches Corner – Toronto Harriers
Tuesday/Wednesday workouts.
Those of you that have signed up for coaching on a Tuesday or Wednesday will have received an email separate to this with a password to access pages on the website with your weekly workout, long run progression and treadmill advice. If you have paid for the coached sessions and have not received the password please contact myself or one of the other coaches.
It is going to be nippy tomorrow morning but underfoot is looking great for this time of year. There is a chance of flurries for the Wednesday morning crew so we will keep our fingers crossed the conditions remain great for running. And don’t forget we have an indoor option every week this first 8 week block at Monarch Park on Tuesday evenings.
For all of these sessions please be at the workout location at these times warmed up and ready for drills and strides.
